Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) is the outcome of the vision and initiative of Padma Bhushan Dr.Shiv Nadar, Chairman of HCL Technologies Ltd., Established in 1996 on a sprawling campus of 250 acres on the Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR). The Institution offers eight B.E./B. Tech. degree programs and eleven M.E. degree programs in addition to MBA program. This ISO 9001:2008 certified Institution has been accredited by NAAC with an 'A+' Grade and all eligible programs have been accredited by NBA for 5 years. SSN College of Engineering has been granted the status of Autonomous institution by the University Grants Commission, MHRD. The college is ranked 36th in Engineering Category in India Rankings 2018 by NIRF, MHRD. The institution has consistently stood top among engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. SSN ranked 7th among best private engineering colleges in India in Edu Rand Awards, 2015. In DQ-CMR survey, SSN ranks 24th among all engineering colleges in India. SSN received the Asia's Best Private Education Institute Award for the year 2012-13 from World Consulting and Research Corporation (WCRC) processed and evaluated by KPMG, "Top Institute of India Award" for the years 2010 & 2012 instituted by Competition Success Review (CSR), New Delhi and "Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award" for an Engineering College having the Best Overall Performance for the year 2006 from ISTE. The management awards over 600 scholarships worth Rs. 4 crore every year to meritorious and deserving students. The college has Wi-Fi connectivity, e-learning enabled classrooms and state of the art laboratories with softwares.
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers NBA accredited B.E. degree program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and M.E. degree program in Power Electronics and Drives. The department has 28 highly qualified faculty members including 21 doctorates. The department is well equipped with laboratories like Advanced Power Electronics lab, Solar Energy Research lab, Renewable Energy Conversion Laboratory, High Voltage Lab and UG & PG Simulation Labs with licensed softwares. The department is a recognized Research Centre of Anna University. The department has signed MoU with Danfoss Industries and has taken up research projects funded by AICTE, DST and MNRE. The department has organized several International/National Conferences and workshops sponsored by Anna University, AICTE, CSIR, IEEE and ISTE.
The fifth International Conference on Electrical Energy Systems (ICEES 2019) aims to foster interaction in the area of electrical energy systems with a specific focus to smart grid, renewable energy and its applications among scientists from both academia and industry. We envisage active exchange among researchers on all aspects of smart grid technologies and applications.
